Getting Started
How do I start learning German?
After creating your account, pick your level from A1 to C2 — or take the placement check if you're not sure — and jump into your first lesson. Each lesson combines a dialogue, listening practice, and grammar notes.
Which levels does GermanLing cover?
All six CEFR levels — A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 — from your first words to full fluency and exam mastery.
Can I use GermanLing offline?
Yes. Download a lesson's audio in advance from the lesson screen, then listen and practice without an internet connection. Your progress syncs automatically once you're back online.
Can I change the app's interface language?
Yes — go to Settings > Language and choose English, Bengali, Hindi, or Chinese. This only changes the interface; the German you're learning stays the same.
Subscription & Billing
What subscription plans are available?
Weekly, monthly, and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions, each with a 7-day free trial, plus a one-time Lifetime unlock for anyone who prefers to pay once. Exact prices are set per region in the App Store / Google Play and shown before you subscribe.
How does the free trial work?
Every subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before then — from your device's subscription settings — at no cost.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iOS: Settings app > [your name] > Subscriptions > GermanLing > Cancel Subscription.
Android: Google Play Store app > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > GermanLing > Cancel.
Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the current period ends.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same account you used to subscribe, then go to Settings > Restore Purchases. Your subscription or Lifetime unlock will be reactivated automatically.
What does the Lifetime plan include?
A single one-time payment of $199.99 that unlocks every level and feature permanently, with no recurring charges.
Can I get a refund?
All purchases are processed by Apple or Google, so refunds are handled directly by them. On iOS, request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, request one through your Google Play order history within 48 hours of purchase, or contact Google Play support after that.
Account & Progress
How do I reset my learning progress?
Go to Settings > Account > Reset Progress. This clears your lesson history and scores but keeps your account and subscription active.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and personal data within 30 days, as described in our Privacy Policy.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and follow the reset link sent to your email. If you signed up with Google or Apple, sign in with that provider instead.
Troubleshooting
Audio won't play or a lesson won't load.
Check your internet connection, then close and reopen the app. If you downloaded the lesson for offline use, redownload it from the lesson screen. Still stuck? Email us with your device model and app version.
The app is crashing or frozen.
Force-close the app and reopen it. If that doesn't help, restart your device and make sure you're on the latest version of GermanLing from the App Store or Google Play.
I found a bug — how do I report it?
Email support@germanling.app with a short description, your device model, and a screenshot or screen recording if possible. It helps us fix things faster.
